Since there weren’t any dentists in my city or county offering zirconia implants, I decided to travel to Scotland to enquire about them. After discovering a possible link between autoimmune conditions and titanium implants causing inflammation and irritation, I was surprised how dismissive most local dentists were. Fabulous dental practice! I had a horrid root canalled tooth removed, which I had been putting off for years, followed by a bone-graft (due to bone loss due to loss of teeth and abscesses having eaten away at some of the jaw-bone). and a Zirconia implant (due to my metal and electrosensitivity.) I travelled up from Northumberland because Neeraj is just the most wonderful dentist. As much as one can look forward to going to the dentists, I did enjoy my visits (even my dreaded tooth extraction!). The whole team is genuinely warm and caring. I felt very welcome and relaxed at every visit and all my emails. phonecalls etc were always promptly returned. All my questions regarding treatment were answered and everything explained to me before, during and after. What exactly is a zirconia implant?

Are zirconia implants as strong as titanium?
Zirconia is very strong, resistant to corrosion and well suited to long-term use, especially for replacing individual teeth. Any implant can fracture under heavy forces, titanium included. For heavy grinders and full-arch cases with a lot of bone loss, titanium can be the safer choice because its parts can be retrieved and adjusted. We’ll advise which suits you at your consultation.
Will it look like a real tooth?
Yes – better, even. The ceramic colour blends seamlessly with your gum line.
Is it safe for people with allergies or sensitivities?
Zirconia is a metal-free, biocompatible material, so many patients with metal sensitivities or a preference to avoid metal choose it. If you’ve had allergy testing or have specific concerns, bring the details to your consultation and we’ll talk through whether ceramic is right for you.
How do I care for them?
Precisely like you would with natural teeth – regular brushing, flossing, and check-ups.
Are “ceramic” and “zirconia” implants the same thing?
Yes. Zirconia (zirconium dioxide) is the ceramic material the implant is made from, so the two terms mean the same thing.
How much do zirconia implants cost?
A single ceramic implant is £2,984, including your CleanImplant-certified Swiss implant placed with X-Guide navigation, PRF healing therapy and Waterlase laser decontamination, all as standard. The crown on top is £1,100, so a standard single replacement tooth is £4,084. Some cases need extra treatment first, such as bone rebuilding, which we quote separately and always put in writing before anything goes ahead. Payment plans are available to help spread the cost, which we are happy to talk through.
Do you offer finance or payment plans?
Yes. We offer payment options to help you spread the cost of treatment over time. We will go through what is available and what suits you best at your consultation.
How long do they last?
With good day-to-day care and regular check-ups, implants are designed to last many years. The crown on top may need renewing over time, as with any restoration.
Can you do a full mouth or several teeth?
Yes. For full-arch and multiple-tooth cases we will talk through whether ceramic or titanium suits your bite and bone best. Sometimes titanium’s adjustability makes it the safer choice for a full arch, and we will tell you honestly which is right for you.
What if I have lost bone where the tooth is missing?
Often that is still workable. Reduced bone can frequently be rebuilt with grafting before placing the implant, as many of our patients have had done. We will assess this at your consultation.
