Integrated Dentalcare is proud to be one of the pioneering clinics of the UK to have Water laser technology. We have made this serious investment in our patient’s dental health so that our client’s can enjoy a more relaxing and truly pain–free experience in dentistry. In conjunction with the use of low level laser therapy and a diagnostic laser- (capable of detecting minute damage to the teeth before it is visible on x-rays) we are able to treat dental disease in the most conservative and painless fashion.
So Why Laser Dentistry?
It's More Comfortable
Waterlase Dentistry uses laser energy and a gentle cool spray of purified water to perform a wide range of dental procedures – without the heat, vibration and pressure associated with the dental drill. These are the usually the primary causes of pain. Eliminating these sensations, allows many dental procedures to be performed with fewer injections, less need for anesthesia, less use of the drill and fewer numb lips! Additionally, using the Water laser for gum procedures reduces bleeding, post-operative pain, swelling and the need for pain medication in many cases. This is great for everyone not just dental phobics since we can successfully tackle our client’s most frequent anxieties – needles, vibration, heat and the grinding sensation! Patient Comfort
It's More Convenient
Using this laser we are often able get you in and out of the dentist’s chair faster, since it is less likely that you’ll need an injection – research shows that the vast majority of patients don’t. It’s nice to avoid that needle, isn’t it? Not using anesthetic can allows us to perform procedures that used to require more than one visit in a single appointment. Furthermore with the laser we are able to perform procedures that once meant an additional trip to a specialist, saving you even more time and money. If you want anesthetic we are more than happy to give it.
It's More Precise
Unlike a drill which rotates at high speed and takes time to stop the laser stops immediately without any risk to the surrounding mouth. There is no risk of scoring adjacent teeth as is quite often the case with a rotating drill. This gives us the unparalleled ability to remove tooth enamel decay (the hardest substance in the body), bone and gum tissue precisely while leaving surrounding healthy areas unaffected and conserved.
Reduced Trauma
High speed drills can cause hairline cracks and fractures in the teeth that eventually lead to future dental problems. Waterlase® reduces damage to healthy portions of the tooth and minimizes trauma.
Improved Cavity Fillings
Waterlase® cavity preparations can increase bond strength of tooth-colored restoration resulting in longer lasting fillings.
Less Bleeding & Swelling
Due to its conservative, gentle cutting action and coagulating capabilities, the Waterlase® performs many soft tissue (gum) procedures with little or no bleeding and less post-op swelling. In fact it can be used to stop bleeding. In conjunction with a LLLT laser we are able to accelerate and promote healing.
The Waterlase can be used for a wide range of hard and soft tissue procedures. From decay removal, cavity preparation, root canals, smile design, gum and bone surgical procedures and many others.
